Some days many, some days few - That is starfish for you
Many visitors know Rach Vem from pictures of starfish in the shallows. How many there are, and how well you can see them, depends on the season, the water level, the weather and the state of the environment when you visit.
We would not dare promise a crowd of starfish on every visit. This is nature: On some days the water is clear and you see them plainly; on rainy days or a poor tide there are fewer.
Once you are in the water, please remember these
Starfish are living animals. Leave them lying in the water; do not lift them into your hands, do not rearrange them for a nicer picture and do not step on them. A photo taken right through the natural water is the best one anyway.
Keeping a sensible distance, stepping carefully in the shallows and carrying your litter back to shore are simple choices, but necessary ones.
- Do not lift starfish or take them out of the water.
- Do not touch, rearrange or step on them.
- Leave no litter and follow the guidance at the site.
- Children should be accompanied and guided by an adult while watching.
